Story Behind the Song:
This song turned out quite differently than I had originally intended. When I first wrote it, the song was more emotional. I really love how this version has a fun, energetic, marching sort of feel to it. I was reading in the book of Daniel in the Bible and it absolutely struck me that Shadrach Meshach and Abednego had so much faith and did not let the fear of losing their life control their decisions. They were asked to bow down to an idol or they would be thrown into the fiery furnace. They said, “We do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” If you know the story, you will remember that God did save them. Standing up for what you believe can be so difficult. This really challenged me to have an attitude that, even if You don’t save me or help me, I will still love You. I will still know that You are good.

Lyrics

Valley
Music and Lyrics by Kassie Tyers

Sometimes the valley’s where I need to be
Even though I sometimes can’t see it
You teach me when I’m desperate
You show me I need to hold onto Your truth

Its so hard to believe You work all things out for good
Even in the midst of my tragedy

If I just pray would all my problems go away?
And if I read Your word and know just what to say
Would you then pick me up?
Would you pick me up and make it go away?

Sometimes the valley’s where I need to be
The place you’re drawing closer to me, to me

You lift me up in due time
You give me patience to press on
I know you can save me
But even if you don’t
I’ll chose to still love you

When I just pray I know here’s where I need to stay
And when I read Your word I hear you say
There is a purpose for my pain
Purpose for my problems and my pain

My attitude will change.
