An Evening to Remember Forever...

A look back into time.... June 7, 2013

It has been a few months now but I remember Friday, June 7th like it was yesterday. I had been sensing something from Adam for over a week and I was pretty sure I knew the "what". I just didn't know the "how" or the "where".

Adam came to my door wearing my favourite of his dress shirts (it's purple) with his handsome dress coat and vest. He brought me out to the car and opened the door to a bouquet of my favourite flowers. We drove for a few minutes and he asked me to close my eyes as he took me in a few small circles so I would not know where we were going. After a while, we turned onto a dirt road. That's when he told me I could open my eyes. It was the camp road! He was taking me to one of my favourite places in Sudbury, our beloved Laari family camp on Middle Lake.

He grabbed the barbeque and took me to the small camp side of the property.  There was food wrapped in foil, which he had prepared.  Beautiful salmon fillets with his own yummy seasonings on cedar planks and plenty of delicious veggies. Inside the small camp, there were three more presents - three potted plants just for me! Lily of the Valley, Oriental Lilies and Calla Lilies. He also had two little baby white spruce trees for us to plant in memory of this day.

After eating a delicious dinner by candlelight, we went down to the dock and took pictures of us and he took some of me. By this time it was maybe 8:30 pm and I was wondering if he was just pulling my leg and going to just ask me the next day at our 18-month anniversary. But then, he walked me over to a beautiful tree near the lake, said a few words in Finn and then many more beautiful words about how much he loved me. He got down on one knee and asked me if I would be his wife.

It was a very lovely evening.  It is still quite surreal that we are getting married.
